Since product and video designers, as well as accountants and pretty much everyone working in corporate environments, could always use a better computer, Dell has expanded its Precision line of workstations.

The Dell Precision T1700 is among the more noteworthy of the additions, with its small form factor (mini-tower). It is an entry-level system.

The other major arrival is the Dell Precision R7610, described as the world's most powerful rack workstation.

Engineering, architecture and finance professionals should all find some benefits in both computers, thanks to the Intel CPUs, AMD/NVIDIA graphics (FirePro/Quadro) and support for dual-monitor setups.

T1700 SFF, as a bonus, has a pair of USB 3.0 ports (the only entry-level workstation to offer this). It makes linking external media possible and easy.

Sales will start on May 21, 2013 for the R7610 ($2,179 / €2,179) and on June 4 for the Precision T1700 Mini-Tower (no price known).
