Dell's Latitude XT3 convertible tablet has been lurking in the shadows since February of this year, and now the Round Rock company has finally started selling this device geared towards mobile professionals who require the power and functionality of a laptop combined with the flexibility of a tablet.

Dell's new creation is powered by Intel second generation Core processors from the Core i3, i5 or i7 product lines and also features such connectivity options as WiMAX and mobile broadband.

The fast Intel processors can be paired with up to 8GB of system memory, various hard drive and SSD units, with a maximum storage capacity of 320GB, while graphics is provided by the built-in HD 3000 GPU found inside Intel's Sandy Bridge mobile processors

This graphics core is used to drive the 1366x768 capacitive multi-touch screen of the Latitude XT3, which can detect up to four simultaneous contact points and can also be used together with a stylus.

Another interesting addition that Dell has brought to the Latitude XT3 is the introduction of a backlit keyboard. This should come as a great aid to users who have to use Dell's creation in the dark.

The rest of the specifications list includes an optical drive option, Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, 3- and 6-cell ExpressCharge battery options with a 9-cell extended battery for all day power, as well as HDMI and VGA video outputs.

Depending on the battery pack chosen, the XT3 can deliver over 8 hours of battery life and with the help of Latitude ExpressCharge technology the battery can re-charge 80% in about an hour.

The base price for the Dell Latitude XT3 convertible tablet is set at $1858 and that will get you an Intel Core i3-2120M processor, 2GB of system memory and a 250GB hard drive. If you want it loaded up with the best of everything you are looking at a price tag reaching almost $4,000 US.
