Earlier this week, Round Rock, Texas-based Dell has announced the official debut of its new Latitude Z-series of ultraportable computer systems, specifically aimed at business professionals and users looking for a multi-featured laptop in a slim and fit package. Built around Intel's low-voltage processor platform, the laptop combines a Core 2 Duo CPU with an ARM-based processor to deliver a convenient way for users to stay connected while on the road. On that note, the company has just listed the new laptop on its website, providing users with a way to take advantage of all the features that have been designed into the new Latitude portable PC.

The Latitude Z 600 is Dell's new flagship business notebook and has now gone on sale for a price tag of US$1,799, thanks to a discount that reduced the initial pricing of US$2,000, which was speculated at the official debut. For this, users will get to benefit from the performance offered by an Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 processor, clocked at 1.4GHz, coupled with 2GB of RAM, a 64GB solid state drive and the integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics solution.

Different configurations go for a bit more than that, with users having to spend approximately US$400 more, for the announced wireless charging system. Bundled in the “Business Package” for US$2,159, the aforementioned configuration also includes a special module for the Latitude and a docking stand, which will ultimately enable you to power the laptop's battery wirelessly.

The same price tag will also get you a couple of better specifications, included in the “Productivity Package.” Although you won't take advantage of the aforementioned wireless charging system, this configuration couples a 1.6GHz processor with 4GB of RAM, which should deliver some performance improvements.

Additional features of the Dell Latitude Z include a 16-inch 1,600 x 900 LCD screen, backlit keyboard, 2MP autofocus webcam, Bluetooth and WiFi a/g/n, while different options include a choice for a second SSD for up to 512GB in storage, 3GB modules and an external DVD or Blu-ray drive. The 4-cell battery pack, available as a standard offers up to 4 hours of runtime, while an 8-cell pack is available as an upgrade.
