After targeting its first Chromebook model and line of Venue tablets at the educational sector, Dell has announced the Latitude 13 Educational Series laptop, which will become available with the optional Dell Mobile Computing Cart upgrade kit and Dell Interactive Projector S520.

It’s interesting to take a look at the educational environment these days, that has evolved into integrating technological advancements at a fast pace.

We no longer rely only on traditional means of passing on knowledge, as educators have realized the importance of presenting material in an alert, interactive way and technology is certainly helping achieve this goal.

We have even heard of programs offering tablets in exchange for students getting good grades, or in disadvantaged communities, even for attending classes. Technology will always attract the youth, so more and more companies are trying to target the educational sector.

Recently, we’ve seen Intel unveil a new educational tablet offering support for third-party accessories like magnification lenses and thermal probes, items that should be used in experimental settings to arise the curiosity of students.

Anyway, going back to Dell, the computer manufacturer has rolled out the Dell Latitude 13 Education Series laptop, a notebook that has been especially designed to provide a rich and fulfilling learning experience, without actually necessitating an online connection (via Yahoo).

The lappy has a pretty generous 13.3-inch display and is powered by a worthy processor which hides under the hood.

Taking into consideration that students aren't the most attentive device owners, Dell has bundled the notebook with a full-size keyboard that abides to military-standards.

That means the keyboard will remain functional even if pupils happen to spill a glass of juice on the touchpad, while eating lunch in the cafeteria.

The screen is coated in a protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass NBT, so scratches shouldn't pose an issue either. The laptop can be carried in an alternative atypical fashion, by opening the laptop up with 180 degrees. This, in turn, will also help reduce hinge stress.

As we told you, the Dell Latitude 13 Educational laptops can be coupled with the Dell Mobile Computing Cart as well. This is a useful tool for desktop administrators who are expected to charge, store and update classroom devices. The cart can hold up to 30 notebooks, Ultrabooks and laptops / tablets.

To conclude the Dell Interactive Projector-S520 comes equipped with multi-touch capabilities, Intel Wireless Display (Intel WiDi) and Miracast technology.

The Dell Latitude 13 Educational Series laptop will be priced starting at $539 / €392, with non-touch models sporting red and blue paint jobs. The Dell Interactive Projector S520 will sell for $4,129 / €3,005 while the Computing Cart will be available for $3,999 / €2,910 (plus upgrade kit included).
