Round Rock, Texas-based Dell has recently announced that it plans to update its range of small-sized, low-cost portable Mini Inspiron lineup with the introduction of an Atom Z520-equipped model. The differences between the upcoming netbook and the ones in the company's current offer include the new, aforementioned CPU, a better LCD screen and some new features currently unavailable with other netbooks on the market. The configuration update has just been announced in Japan, but has been available on the company's website for some time now.

According to a recent news-article on akihabaranews, Dell Japan has just announced that it plans to launch a new version of its successful Inspiron Mini 10 netbook. The new system will boast the similar 10-inch form factor, but with an LCD that can deliver a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. Aside from that, the system is powered by the Atom Z520 processor, running at a core speed of 1.33GHz, coupled with 1GB of RAM memory and a 160GB hard-disk drive.

The updated system will also boast a GPS, wireless WiFi b/g and Bluetooth connectivity, 1.3MP web camera and an HDMI port. All things considered, the new configuration of the Inspiron Mini 10 is roughly the same as that on the initial system, if you put aside the GPS, HDMI connectivity and the new processor option. However, we do have to admit that the new features make Dell's Inspiron Mini 10 a bit more interesting, especially when you compare it to other similar systems on the market.

As you probably already know, the Inspiron Mini series of netbooks is available in a wide range of color options, which will also apply for the updated model. Unfortunately, we have no details on the system's pricing or availability for that matter.
