Yesterday was one of the most important days for AMD this year, as the world's second largest manufacturer of computer processors announced the debut of its latest 2010 VISION platform, a solution designed to simplify the buying choices for consumers worldwide.

At an event held at just a few steps from the on-going Cannes Film Festival, the company joined partners like Acer, HP, Dell, Lenovo to demonstrate the latest VISION-powered computer systems. After having spent a couple of moments with the highly-interesting Aspire One 521 netbook, we also caught glimpse of another new notebook, the so-called Inspiron Camino.

This laptop has been designed by Dell and incorporates an AMD VISION platform in a rather interesting design. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to get our hands on any technical specifications of the new device, but from the looks of it, this fresh wonder from Dell might soon join the ultraportable market with a design that could appeal to some of those fashion-conscious consumers out there.

Despite no specific details on performance numbers, we can tell you that this notebook is ready to be used as a multimedia system, considering the available ports that we caught on camera. On the backside of the system, there are both an HDMI and a DisplayPort connector, while on the right side, users will get an SD and MMC memory card reader, eSata port and LAN connector. You'll also find the usual mic-in and headphones ports, with just two USB ports placed on the left side of the laptop.

Other than that, we can say that the so-called Camino comes with an aluminum finish paired with a white plastic cover on the backside. Unfortunately, we don't exactly know when the gizmo will be released, although the Dell representatives at AMD's event claimed it would be out soon enough. Until that happens, we suggest you take everything with a grain of salt.
