In the upcoming days

If you recently had a spare moment to browse through Dell's support web pages, there's a chance you might have noticed several official pictures of the company's highly anticipated Inspiron 910 netbook. Despite no official release yet, the company has decided to provide some sort of support for its first small-sized, sub-notebook portable computer system. The recently introduced pages could also hint at a possible release in the upcoming days.

Tomorrow is the first day of the Berlin IFA consumer electronics show, which could also coincide with the release of a couple of new netbooks, including Dell's Inspiron 910, Fujitsu-Siemens' Amilo Mini and LG's X110, all which have been reason for countless speculations for quite some time now. As we informed you in several of our previous articles, the Round-Rock systems vendor is expected to finally enter the netbook market, sometime this month, which, in turn, could mean that Dell has only three more days to release its own product.

At a closer look at the recently uploaded images and the provided details, some of the Inspiron 910 fans could actually end up by being quite disappointed. Like all the other netbooks, this one too will lack a built-in optical drive, thus forcing users to purchase a separate external optical drive for reading and burning CDs or DVDs, which Dell will most probably put at their disposal for an extra cost.

Furthermore, it seems that the netbook will come with a rather cramped keyboard, which will most likely affect users' typing skills in a negative way. There are no function keys and no Num lock, Scroll Lock or Caps lock LEDs. Apparently, Dell has stripped this netbook of everything it could dispose of, in order to achieve that much hyped $299 price tag.

Recent rumors indicate that the Inspiron 910 will be rolled out on Monday, meaning on September 1st. Nevertheless, so far, there are no details available regarding the netbook's suggested price point or other technical specifications. Given the rumors and the freshly released support page, one thing is certain: Dell will unveil the 9-inch portable device soon.
