It seems that Dell has finally decided to roll out a couple of new systems to go with its small-sized and low-power Studio Hybrid desktop system. However, unlike the Hybrid, the newly released products come with a more conventional design, which aims to appeal to all those users that require a solid-built desktop computer that also delivers an optimum performance level.

The new systems have been built using the same design features as the one on the company's Studio laptops and Studio Hybrid desktop. The Studio Desktop and Studio Slim are meant to provide those multimedia enthusiasts out there with a high-performance desktop solution.

Both systems are based on the G45 Express chipset from Intel, which means that they come to support some of Intel's latest Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors. They can deliver a maximum of 8GB of DDR2 memory, integrated 7.1-inch audio, S-PDIF, HDMI and VGA output, 1 FireWire port (Studio Desktop comes with 2), 6 USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and a 16-in-1 media card reader (Studio Slim has a 19-in-1 media card reader). Aside from all this, the Studio Desktop will be shipped with a 350W PSU, while the Studio Slim comes with a lower 250W power supply.

Optional features include discrete ATI graphics, Blu-Ray optical drives, wireless 802.11n connectivity, TV tuners, 64-bit Windows Vista, and wireless keyboards and mice. In addition, these systems can support up to 1TB of storage space, which will do just nicely in case of large databases of digital content.

The Studio Slim measures 14.2 inches in height, is 3.9 inches wide and 17.1 inches deep. It comes with three 3.5-inch drive bays and one 5.25-inch bay, while the Studio Desktop measures 14.2 inches in height, 6.7 inches wide and is 17.1 inches deep. Pricing for both systems starts at a decent US$549.
