Computer maker Dell is one of the companies that should bring to the market handsets running under Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system, as it recently confirmed plans on making this move.

Of course, there are still no specific details available on when that might actually happen, nor on the smartphones that should be delivered to the shelves, but the one thing that is certain is that Dell should launch these phones sooner or later.

The confirmation on upcoming Windows Phone 7 devices comes from Dell's Matt Parretta, who answered to some speculations on the possibility that there won't be such a handset released.

“Any reports, or speculation, that report Dell will not support Windows Phone 7 are false... Microsoft announced Dell as a supporting partner at this year's Mobile World Congress and nothing's changed. We are excited to collaborate with Microsoft on Windows Phone 7, and are looking forward to bringing customers amazing mobile experiences,” he said, according to Engadget.

However, it seems that Dell might not launch a Windows Phone 7 smartphone when the platform would land on the market in several weeks' time.

Recently, analyst Jonathan Goldberg suggested that one major company has decided to remove Microsoft's operating system from its roadmap, and that maker was thought to be Dell.

However, it seems that what the analyst was trying to say is that Dell won't have Windows Phone 7 devices on shelves right when the platform launches, but at a later time.

As the computer maker itself confirmed, it still is a Windows Phone 7 partner, though it still remains to be seen what mobile phones it would bring to the market, as well as when that might happen.

One of these devices might be the previously leaked Dell Lightning, which was (or is) a great looking handset, but which was not confirmed until now.
