It seems that Dell was not content with detailing just one high-end gaming laptop, having also spared the effort to go ahead and add a new video card option on the Alienware M15x.

Those keeping tabs on the gaming notebook market will likely be aware of the fact that, not too long ago, a report said that a 17-inch Alienware would be getting a HD 6970 mobile graphics card.

This was especially interesting because the AMD Radoen HD 6970 for laptops, if it even exists yet, has not actually been released by the Sunnyvale, California-based company.

Now, a second laptop, which is, coincidentally, part of the same series, has been updated with a new graphics card option.

The card in question is none other than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M, which has 1.5 GB of memory and, of course, support for DirectX 11 graphics.

The rest of the feature set, from the CPU to the available connectivity and I/O options, is otherwise unchanged.

The central processing unit can be a Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 chip, the strongest available being the Intel Core i7 940XM.

This chip has a clock frequency of 2.13 GHz and a cache memory of 8MB, which being backed up, as would any of the other CPUs be, by 3 GB, 4 GB, 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM.

Additionally, the display size is of 15.6 inches and the panel can have a resolution of 1,600 x 900 pixels or a Full HD-ready 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

There is also a hard disk drive of 250 GB or 500 GB, as well as a slot-loading dual layer DVD burner.

As for connectivity and I/O, Dell threw in Gigabit Ethernet, VGA, DisplayPort, eSATA, an 8-in-1 card reader, built-in speakers, USB 2.0 ports and an ExpressCard slot.

Those interested in a first-hand view of the hardware, or want to buy one of these Dell Alienware M15x, need only drop by the official website.
