Similar to most of its rivals in the field of mobile computing, Dell has decided to bring some top-of-the-line novelties at this year's International CES from Las Vegas, the company rolling out, among numerous other cool products, two new 3D laptops, one in the XPS line and the second in their very famous Alienware family. The XPS 3D notebook (XPS 17) is, as the name suggests, a large 17-inch machine that leverages the computing power delivered by Intel's brand-new next-generation Intel Core i7 processors (a.k.a. the Sandy Bridge platform), combined with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M graphics card.

Given the fact that an NVIDIA card is present, you might have already guessed that the 3D system installed on the XPS notebook is, in fact, the NVIDIA 3D Vision, which requires active shutter glasses, available separately.

In addition to a 3D screen, the XPS 17 3D laptop also features JBL sound, an integrated subwoofer and HD video streaming with Skype.

The Alienware machine, on the other hand, is also a 17-inch model (the M17x) and comes equipped with a 120Hz w/3D Bundle WideFHD WLED LCD display and NVIDIA graphics card.

Beside these two notebooks, Dell also revealed at CES 2011 an XPS desktop system, the Dell XPS 8300, that comes equipped with next-generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 quad-core processors, as well as the new models of its Aurora system, Alienware’s first MicroATX desktop with full 3D HD capability and liquid-cooled CPUs (naturally, desktop Sandy Bridge models as well).

The new Dell XPS 17 should become available in early February 2011 starting at 1,449 US dollars, while the Alienware M17x will have exactly the same starting price point, but will become available much earlier, namely on January 10.

Moving on to the desktops, we'll mention that the XPS 8300 will hit the shelves in January 10, 2011 starting at $749, while the Alienware Aurora systems should also become available around the same date, starting at $1,799.
