MTV Games and Harmonix are not slowing down when it comes to delivering downloadable content for their Rock Band platform even if this means creating competition for their own launch this week, the standalone Green Day: Rock Band. The two companies are delivering songs from alternative rockers Deftones and from less known acts Boys Like Girls and Crown of Thorns. Their songs are arriving on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Nintendo Wii.

Deftones is the undisputed star of this new download song pack. The band was formed in California way back in 1988 and they are set to deliver three tracks to Rock Band. “Cherry Waves” and “Hole in the Earth” are taken from “Saturday Night Wrist”, launched in 2006. “Minerva” is from the “Deftones” album outed in 2003 and the band is currently touring North America after having put out a new album, called “Diamond Eyes.” Al the songs are created using master recordings.

Boys Like Girls is featured in Rock Band with “The Great Escape” from the self-titled album it launched in 2006 and which went Gold on launch. The band is at the moment on tour supporting Hanson and Good Charlotte. Crown of Thorns is debuting on Rock band with “Rock Ready,” featured on “Faith,” the album the band put out in June 2009.

The Deftones Pack 01 package can be downloaded on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 with all the abovementioned tracks for 440 Microsoft Points. There's also the option of purchasing each track separately, for the price of 160 Microsoft Points, which is the equivalent of 1.99 dollars. On the Nintendo Wii, each of the songs retails for 200 Wii Points.

At the moment, Harmonix and MTV Games are shifting all resources to the creation of Rock Band 3, a game that will introduce keyboards to the music simulation genre and could arrive as soon as this fall.
