Def Jam Rapstar, Konami's hip-hop oriented karaoke game, has just received a new patch that enables support for Microsoft's new Kinect motion detection peripheral.

Def Jam Rapstar was initially launched in October by Konami, after being developed by Terminal Reality and Def Jam Interactive, for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii

It allowed players to step into the MC shoes of great rappers and interpret some of their most famous songs, ranging from 2Pac Shakur, to 50 Cent, NWA, Dr. Dre or Ice Cube.

Even if it was basically a rap-themed karaoke game, Def Jam Rapstar also allowed players to use the video camera on their respective platform to record videos of their performance and upload them to the game's special website.

Now, in order to make things easier for Xbox 360 rap fans that don't have an Xbox Live Vision camera, Def Jam Rapstar has just been updated with support for the new Kinect motion detection peripheral.

"Load up your machine and you'll be prompted to download the patch, which will enable Kinect on your machine. Have fun ya'll, we can't wait to see your videos," said the official website of the game.

Kinect was launched one month after the premiere of Def Jam Rapstar, in November, so the development team really worked hard to implement support for it in around a month and a half.

The community website of Def Jam Rapstar is already filled with videos from players trying to show their singing skills, as well as enter rap battles with others by playing the same song and letting others vote who sand it better.

Def Jam Rapstar is also a great example of post-release support, as Konami and the development studios have been releasing a lot of songs as downloadable content each week.

All that's left is to connect Def Jam Rapstar to the Internet and download the new patch on the Xbox 360.
