News from Devon, England says that a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a crossbow and using it to shoot a deer in the head.

Information shared with the public says that the deer was spotted running around with a crossbow bolt stuck in its head in the Plymbridge Woods in Plymouth by an individual.

According to The Independent, the person who saw the deer also caught a glimpse of a man wearing hunting gear in the area. The man is said to have been acting quite suspiciously.

The 25-year-old now in police custody has agreed to help authorities and the RSPCA carry out an investigation into this incident.

Presently, police officers and RSPCA inspectors are trying to track down the animal and determine whether it can be rescued or if maybe its injuries are too severe and putting it to sleep would be the right thing to do.

“It is barbaric and it's also extremely dangerous. This is public woodland on a Sunday morning. There's always children and dog walkers around,” Sgt. Ryan Canning commented on this incident.

“We know that the deer has a crossbow bolt in its head, but we don't know the severity of the injury. It's possible that we could still save the animal if we found it, but if it is deceased we would need to recover the bolt,” he added.

Should members of the public see the deer, they are asked not to approach it and instead alert authorities without delay.
