The team at Deep Silver working on the newly confirmed Metro Redux says that despite the official announcement, it is continuing to work on the quality of the title on next-gen consoles and might deliver an 1080p experience on the Xbox One.

Huw Beynon, who is a global brand manager at the company, tells Eurogamer that, “We're really pleased with the performance from the two consoles. We thought it would be 30fps as it's a very CPU-heavy game so we're quite pleased to get the devices in the studio and get it to 60fps.”

The company explained that it was focused on delivering a steady frame rate for Redux, which includes both Metro 2033 and Last Light, because it has the biggest effect on the player’s experience and immersion in the world.

The official announcement says that at the moment, the game runs at 900p resolution on the Xbox One and at 1080p on the PlayStation 4.

Huw Beynon adds, “At the moment we're at 900p - that might change. I say might, I don't know at the moment, we've still a got a few months to go.”

Metro Redux is supposed to be launched during the summer season and the comments suggest that it might be delivered at some point in August, which means that the developers have about one more month to improve the resolution on the Xbox One.

The new title can be bought as a retail package or via digital distribution and it is designed to deliver the definitive Metro experience on next-gen consoles.

Gamers will be able to experience both titles in the series with enhanced textures, an improved game engine and more detail for each included character.

At the same time, Deep Silver is adding two new game modes that are designed to appeal to hardcore fans, giving them an option between a more realistic take on the core features and a more action-driven experience.

The Metro titles are based on a series of novels and detail the actions of a survivor who lives in the Moscow underground rail network, forced to deal with a variety of factions while also battling powerful monsters.

The game includes complex mechanics for excursions to the surface and it is designed to evoke feelings of terror and claustrophobia. The two Metro video games have been praised for their atmosphere and their shooter elements and Redux will help deliver them to a wider number of players.
