A surprising sequel to DeathSpank has been announced by Hothead Games. The title is called DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue and promises to improve on the very recent original in every way, from the story's length to the quality of writing.

DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue is set to be fifty percent longer than the first game and will bring the ridiculous hero to strange new environments to fight various new enemies.

The first DeathSpank was released a month a go, only on the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. A PC version will follow at a later date.

In an interview with Kotaku, Hamish Millar, producer of the title, said that Thongs of Virtue will have more puzzles and adventures, while keeping the core hack and slash gameplay. DeathSpank will be controlled in the same way, with the face buttons being asigned to four different weapons.

Millar also said that Thongs of Virtue would be a lot funnier this time around. The story revolves around six mystical thongs that should have brought balance to the world, but actually managed to to wreak havoc in the world

DeathSpank must travel to very different parts of the world to destroy each and one of them. Millar promises that players will not need to know the events from the first game to understand what goes on here.

Ron Gilbert was involved in this title as much as in the original, mainly because the two were being developed, curiously, at the same time. The result was that Thongs of Virtue will not contain any features that were requested by the fans.

Online cooperative multiplayer, thus, will not be included in this release, but the local mode that is present will have a new character, a ninja called Steve.

DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue will be released on PSN on the 21st of September and on XBLA on the 22nd of September for 15 dollars. The PC version is still at the hypothetical phase, depending on the demand of the market.
