Or Not?

According to the latest study posted by IDC on August 29, the myth that camera phone will replace digital cameras is nothing but...well...a myth.

IDC 's Mobile Imaging Survey revealed that the camera phone is more of a gateway product in the U.S. and it actually creates, rather than destroys digital camera users.

This is a top-level study of U.S. camera phone owners. The survey focuses on key consumer imaging applications and quantity of image captured, printed, deleted or archived.

It generates some valuable information on trends between camera phone owners who also own a digital camera, and those who do not.

Here are some key findings of IDC's Mobile Imaging Survey: -The bulk of camera phone owner respondents are between the ages of 25 and 44 -The top imaging activities are archiving images for the long-term and sharing through email. -Over 30% of camera phone owners plan to purchase a digital camera because they were introduced to digital imaging through a camera phone.

Apparently, there's nothing similar to a death match here; moreover, it's quite a friendly relationship we have, because the two devices seems to be rather interdependent. And even if it was, we would have had the digital camera on top and not the camera phone. So, as for the myth, it's pretty much the other way around.
