A short while ago, Dean McDermott revealed in an interview that, once season 2 of True Tori wrapped, he would not consent to shooting more episodes for a possible, still-to-be-greenlit season 3 because he’d had enough. Fans will get to hear more on the topic with the remaining episodes.

Lifetime has released a new preview for next week’s episode of the series, and it promises to offer an insight into what led Dean to make this decision. Yes, he fought with wife Tori Spelling some more, this time over the kids and what Tori perceived to be his messed up priorities.

The video is embedded below.

Dean accuses Tori of using the show to make him look bad

The scene begins with Tori and her male best friend talking about Dean and how he had confided during therapy that his 4 kids with Tori weren’t his “first want,” and that he put his and Tori’s happiness above theirs. Tori doesn’t see anything wrong with sharing with her friends stuff that is meant to be confidential, having been revealed in therapy.

Either way, Dean comes in and overhears what she’s saying and accuses her of trying to twist his words to make him out to be the bad guy. In fact, he says, visibly nervous, she’s been using the show to make him into the villain for a long time and he’s just about had it.

The preview ends with Dean explaining to Tori how there is a “fine line” between what should and should not be shown on camera, and his belief that this line has been crossed, as far as he’s concerned.

Tori “gets it” but still manages to look shocked when he hints that he might want to not do the show anymore.

True Tori, a show that probably overstayed its welcome either way

True Tori started when Lifetime thought it would be a good idea to document the marriage drama that started when some Canadian woman went to the papers to claim that she’d had a 2-night affair with Dean, when away from his family on a work assignment.

So, the first season dealt with Dean’s infidelity and his admission of having relapsed into addiction, but also his struggle with depression and terrible insecurities. Eventually, Tori forgave him, and everyone assumed that was the end of the series.

It turned out this wasn’t the case: season 2 was announced and premiered, with each episode being watched by fans and non-fans alike. The latter mostly tune in because they want to see what these two come up with to keep themselves relevant.

Useless to say, they don’t believe the cheating episode ever happened, mostly because the woman Dean allegedly cheated with seems to have slipped off the face of the earth.

Airing dirty laundry is Tori’s livelihood

Whether the scandal was manufactured or not, we’ll probably never be able to say with certainty, but one thing is crystal clear: Tori Spelling doesn’t know how else to earn a living than by airing her dirty laundry in public.

In one particular episode this season, she has no less than 2 separate meltdowns over her fears that the family might have to downsize because she’s no longer making as much money as before. When another friend confronts her to ask if she ever considered giving her family a “normal” life, she bawls that reality TV is all she knows, all she’s good at.

What this could mean for True Tori, assuming that a third season is ever greenlit, is that Tori will most definitely come back, even if Dean doesn’t. On second thought, Dean will come back too, because it’s not like they can shoot an entire season around him.
