In just a few hours, Corporate Vice President of Internet Explorer Dean Hachamovitch and Corporate Vice President, .NET Developer Platform Scott Guthrie will be on stage delivering the opening keynote at MIX 2011 in Las Vegas. Obviously, the two will talk about Internet Explorer and Silverlight, among other things. Personally, I’m looking forward to the first Beta of Silverlight 5 as well as news about the future of Internet Explorer.

“Last year he [Hachamovitch] demonstrated the power of fully hardware accelerated HTML5 for the first time and launched the first platform preview of IE9. What’s he have in store this year?” asked Microsoft’s Scott Armstrong.

Those attending MIX will be able to find out the details by participating at the live event. However, users around the world can also tune in.

“You can find out even if you’re not attending MIX11. The keynote will be live streamed across the web: Just go here to find the stream tomorrow http://live.visitmix.com/news/live-keynote,” Armstrong added.

As it’s usually the case with events of such magnitude from Microsoft, the keynote address will continue to be available to users on demand. Those interested can just use the same link as above.

MIX 2011 participants will also get the chance to win some sweet gear from Microsoft. On the last day of the conference, the software giant will offer two lucky participants a MIXtery MEGA box each.

According to Armstrong, the MEGA boxes contain:

“The HP Pavilion dm1z (…) features AMD’s new Fusion APU – providing a great web browsing experience on Internet Explorer 9 on a small form factor laptop.

• A full set of all 5 giveaway books, covering topics like web standards, HTML5, CSS3, and more!

• One of each of the 5 limited edition shirts we’re giving away at MIX11 – in your size!

• And an Internet Explorer 9 laptop bag to haul everything back home.”
