A woman living on Twin Circle Drive in west, Houston, has recently stumbled upon a giant African land snail that somehow made its way into her garden.

The woman picked it up and even took a picture of it, yet specialists warn that this was not a very good decision.

This is because such snails are an invasive species in the US, and are known to carry a parasitic disease that might affect certain people and even lead to their death.

Unfortunately, the snail's current whereabouts are unknown, sources say.

Specialists fear that more of them might be living in this area, and are asking that people refrain from touching them and inform the authorities should they happen to see one.

This is the first time a giant African land snail has ever been spotted in Texas.
