The cult anime classic mixes guns, girls and violence

The movie “Kite” is the story of a schoolgirl orphan who turns into a deadly assassin, bent on revenge after her father is killed by a crime lord. It's a film remake from a cult anime classic and it really looks like a lot of fun.

It's a weird mixture of the girl power found in “Sucker Punch” - skimpy dresses included – and the violence from "Kill Bill." Add to that the talents and on-screen humor of Samuel L. Jackson, and you've got yourself a potential box office killer, or at least a cult classic.

The trailer for the film “Kite” manages to reveal a lot of the plot despite its chaotic look and intermittent fight scenes. It's a visual feast for those that have an appetite for guns, girls and violence.

The film is directed by South African cinematographer Ralph Ziman, known to you from the 2008 film “Gangster's Paradise: Jerusalema.” Judging from the clip, it doesn't look like he bothered very much with the back story, character credibility and dialogue, focusing more on the visual aspects.

The beginning of the clip has a fragment of a Samuel L. Jackson interview in which he expresses his interest for this film and the overall story, and urges you to be as enthusiastic about the project as he is. If you want to see just the trailer, skip ahead to 0:50.
