Relic Entertainment, the developer working on the Retribution expansion for the strategy title Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, has announced new information regarding the hero characters that players will be controlling when playing the Eldar race.

The Eldar will have no less than four different heroes that can be controlled in Retribution, each with an unique approach to the battlefield and with a unique style of play linked to their abilities, but all sharing the Eldar battle philosophy of using quick movement and psychic powers to distract and then overwhelm enemies.

Kayleth is a fighter which prefers to get up close and personal with her enemies and uses an ability called Skyleap and grenades to take out enemies before she jumps into the fray to finish them off.

Veldoran is a Warlock which has long experience in fighting the enemies of the Eldar and a psyker that deals damage by using his Immolate ability while also gaining access to an ability which allows him to drain enemies of life force in order to sustain his own.

Ronahn is a former pathfinder who focuses on hiding himself from the enemy, with an upgradeable ability which allows him to take an entire squad deep behind enemy lines before unleashing a powerful attack.

The Farseer hero in Dawn of War II: Retribution is called Elenwe and he main ability is called Time Field (a bit uninspired) and creates a space where Eldar units still move and shoot normally while all enemies slow down, making them more vulnerable to the speed and firepower of the Eldar.

In the new expansion for Dawn of War II players will be able to play as the Tyranids and as the Ork hordes as they to wrestle power from the Space Marines and in the Aurelia sub sector.

Retribution will be launched in March of next year.
