14 DAY TRIAL // David Blaine is back to primetime and he’s certainly making it a moment to remember: his ABC special, “David Blaine: Real or Magic,” airing last night, included not only some of the biggest names now working in showbiz, but also mind-blowing and sometimes absolutely creepy illusions.
In case you haven’t seen the special yet, I include two videos from it, just to keep you going until you do.
Blaine set out to show celebrities just how far he can take his illusions. He definitely had his fun showing the likes of Jada Pinkett and Will Smith, Kanye West and Woody Harrelson, and Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston the icepick illusion, where he pushes it through his palm until it almost comes out the other way.
You will find this trick in the first video, above. The stars’ reactions are priceless: even Kanye West was impressed because, for once, he didn’t say much but just looked and giggled and wondered.
The second video embedded here is of Blaine doing the same illusion to Ricky Gervais, but this time driving a large needle through his arm and with the purpose of showing him that it’s all an illusion. Of course, Gervais is just as confused as I am at the end: how did he do it?!
“It's one of the best illusions I've ever seen, or you're a maniac. Either way, well done,” the comedian says.
