David Beckham unveils chest tattoo: Jesus and cherubs, himself and his three sons

A short while ago, David Beckham teased on Facebook that he’d gotten a brand new tattoo, even including in the post a photo of himself having the work done on his pec. He’s now revealed his latest ink.

The latest piece of body art took no less than 12 full hours to make and it’s a family portrait of sorts, in that it shows David as Jesus and his three sons as cherubs carrying him.

Also on Facebook, where he also unveiled the new tattoo, David writes that the design carries a lot of meaning for him, just like all the other tattoos he has do.

“Obviously the cherubs are boys so my thought behind it is that at some point my boys are going to need to look after me and that’s what they’re doing in the picture,” David writes.

He points out that he’s not in the habit of getting meaningless tattoos of designs that only look pretty or interesting.

“Everything has a meaning,” he says. “It’s just sometimes I wake up and I think, you know, I’ve got an idea of an image I would like on me. Some people love tattoos, some people don’t,” he adds.

For him, tattoos represent a means of expressing himself creatively – this is what he has done so far and what he plans on doing from now on.

“It’s just something that I have always found can kind of express how I’m feeling, or the thoughts that I have or memories. Most of my tattoos are memories and things that mean things to me,” David says.

“There’s not one tattoo that I’ve got on me that doesn’t mean something,” he adds.

Since the big unveiling of the latest piece, celebrity bloggers have been quick to points out that David might have considered leaving some room for the fourth child that he’s now expecting with wife Victoria.

If she’s a girl, she may even be drawn as angel, they say.
