Soccer star David Beckham was involved in a car accident on the LA freeway at the end of last week: he rear-ended a vehicle that had broken down and stalled in the carpool lane, reports in the US media suggest.

Both People magazine and TMZ note that, while the driver in the vehicle that Beckham backed into complained of neck pains and had to be taken to the hospital, the star was not injured.

“The soccer star was traveling south on the 405 Freeway Friday morning when he rear-ended a stalled vehicle,” People informs.

“Mr. Beckham’s black Cadillac SUV collided with the rear of a gold Mitsubishi in the carpool lane,” Jennifer Connolly, spokesperson for California Highway Patrol, says for the same publication.

The other driver was taken to the hospital more as a cautionary measure, because he was wearing the seatbelt at the time, TMZ also says. David was not injured in any way.

The latter media outlet also reports that David was not alone at the time of the accident: he had one of his three sons with him in the car, but he too walked away unharmed.

“Sources close to Beckham tell us his son Brooklyn was in the car at the time of the accident, but that he and David were both not injured,” TMZ writes.

Police did not arrest or cite David to the place of the accident. His publicist was not immediately available for comment.

In other Beckham-related news, in mid-March, David confirmed that he and Victoria were expecting a baby girl, just like media reports had speculated some weeks before that.

This is the couple’s fourth child: as noted above, they already have three boys.

“We’re still in shock. Obviously, having three boys, you kind of expect another one, so finding out a little girl is in there is surprising, but, obviously, we are over the moon,” David said at the time, as we also informed you.
