David Beckham is a famous football player who recently joined LA Galaxy coming from the Spanish team Real Madrid. But what's more interesting for us is the impact of the transfer that boosted the traffic of the official MLS page, the US soccer league. According to market researcher comScore, the transfer of the football star brought more than 1 million visitors to the page, the traffic being increased from approximately 300,000 visitors recorded before Beckham joined LA Galaxy.

The reports sustain the biggest number of unique visitors was recorded in July 2007 when David Beckham debuted against the famous football team Chelsea. Also, the MLS website recorded 808,000 unique visitors when the US team announced the transfer of the English player.

"David Beckham's impact on the MLS league's official website has been enormous. The player has single handedly doubled the number of visitors to mlsnet.com versus last year, which let's not forget, was a World Cup year. When you look at the huge traffic increase that occurred in January just because of the announcement of his signing for the club, the figures speak for themselves. If anyone can raise the profile of soccer in the States, David Beckham is undoubtedly the man to do it," Bob Ivins, EVP of International Markets at comScore, said.

It's obvious that David Beckham is more than a famous football player because he manages to attract fans wherever he goes. While he was playing at Real Madrid, the Spanish team managed to build quite a celebrities group around David Beckham with well known players such as Robinho, Ronaldo, Antonio Cassano and several others.

However, Beckham tends to become an image because he appears in numerous commercials and more and more companies are aiming to use him in order to advertise their products and attract new customers.
