14 DAY TRIAL // They say that the one thing that celebrities have in common is the fact that they’re all complete strangers to the meaning of the word “no.” Though at first sight, the latest incident in which comedian Dave Chappelle was involved could also be explained by the so-called diva behavior, TMZ says there might be more to it than meets the eye.
The other day, Chappelle boarded a private jet, destination Ohio, where he lives. At one point, he reportedly rushed into the pilot’s cabin to ask him repeatedly whether they still had a long way to go, after which he proceeded to tinkering with the pilot’s microphones. Before that, he’d already caused a scene by refusing to put his seat belt on, which, of course, worried the staff, the aforementioned media outlet informs.
Eventually, the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing. “A private jet carrying comedian Dave Chappelle made an emergency landing in Pittsburgh last night because the pilot couldn’t handle Chappelle’s erratic behavior, TMZ has learned. A source extremely familiar with the incident tells TMZ Chappelle boarded a private jet in New Jersey last night bound for Ohio – where the actor lives. During the flight, we’re told Dave ‘freaked out’ and refused to put his seat belt on. Then – according to sources – Dave repeatedly walked into the cockpit, asking how much longer the flight would be, and started grabbing the pilot’s arms,” TMZ says.
“Sources say the pilot determined Chappelle was a safety risk and diverted the plane to Pittsburgh. We’re told Chappelle then checked into a nearby hotel for the night. Sources at the hotel tell us Dave has been telling hotel employees he wanted to rent a car to drive back to Ohio... only he couldn’t remember where he lived. Chappelle was spotted wandering out of the hotel early this morning,” the same media outlet reports, hinting that the problem may be more serious.
Contacted for comment, a rep for Chappelle insists the actor was only suffering from a very severe bout of indigestion, wherefrom all the commotion on the plane. It was not the star’s intention to cause a ruckus but, as the spokesperson puts it, he’d eaten something that sat really bad with him and the bathroom on the flight simply did not suit his needs, therefore the need to inquire whether they still had a long way to go.
