Protests on the Dartmouth campus have prompted class cancellations for a day, reports say.

The demonstrations, caught on video above, raise questions about school officials' take on discrimination and assault.

“Dartmouth has a problem!” students chanted while holding up signs and decrying the school's attitude.

According to Feministing, among the many issues listed by the angered group are homophobia, made obvious through graffiti on campus, verbal altercations stemming from racist bias and the school tolerating rape.

Demonstrators mention that, of all rapes that take place on campus, only 5 percent are actually reported, since the school does nothing about them.

They add that Dartmouth has only kicked out three students guilty of rape in the last 10 years.

Twitchy relays a statement by the Dartmouth board, citing “fostering debate that promotes respect for individuals, civil and engaged discourse, and the value of diverse opinions” as their reason for canceling school today.

They plan to address the issues brought before them through “alternative programming” and talks with the students.
