The Wii U home console is set to arrive in the living rooms of gamers at some point during 2012 and Nintendo has already stated that one of its aims with the device is to attract the hardcore gaming crowd, with a mix of action titles and first person shooters.

One of the games which has been already revealed as getting a Wii U version is Darksiders 2, the mix between platforming and combat created by the developers at Vigil Games for publisher THQ.

The team working on the game has shown how the game will work on the Wii U, with the inventory and the map being shown on the touch screen of the new controller while the main action takes place on the big screen television that is attached to the console.

Players will be able to move around the world and engage enemies while at the same time paying attention at his next objective and at the items that he can use to make the fights that lie ahead of him easier.

It seems that the Wii U is powerful enough to handle the improved graphics of Darksiders 2 and the development team is working on more ways to use the touch screen controller in the game.

Speaking about the story of the new game, Ryan Stefanelli, who is a producer working on Darksiders 2, has spoken about the sequel, saying, “Knowing that his brother would never commit such an atrocity, Death works behind the scenes to clear War’s name.”

He added, “Unlike his brother, Death is more than willing to work with some of the more shady characters of the Underworld. The story revolves around Death travelling through the Abyss, making deals and bargains, and ultimately having to make a very difficult personal decision.”

At the moment Darksiders 2 has a launch date set for June 2012.
