French daredevils Vince Reffet and Fred Fugen set a new world record after performing two incredible base jumps from the top of the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai.

The two professional base jumpers climbed to the top of the renowned skyscraper and spiraled down the 828-metre (2,717-foot) tall building in an amazing stunt which was, of course, captured on camera.

The jump was sponsored by the skydiving resort Skydive Dubai, which made the jump possible by constructing a platform at the very top of the pinnacle.

Before the record-breaking jump, Fred and Vince had to go through a series of training in Switzerland where they base jumped off Lauterbeunnen Mountain, which is almost the same height as The Burj Khalifa, the Arabian Gazette informs.

BASE jumping is an acronym that stands for Building, Antenna, Span and Earth. It's an extreme sport which sees jumpers freefall after jumping off one of those structures and then use a parachute. It's similar to skydiving, but is considered more dangerous because performers jump from a lower altitude and they have obstacles along the way.

The previous record was set by Emirati jumpers Nasser Al Neyadi and Omar Al Hegelan who jumped 672 meters (2,204 feet) down the tower in 2010.
