Following weeks of speculation, X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has just confirmed on her Twitter page that she is expecting her first child, as the Telegraph also informs. The 38-year-old star is currently dating model Kris Smith and has repeatedly talked of her plans of settling down and starting a family.

In recent weeks, talk of Minogue looking for a way out of her job as an X Factor judge has led to speculation that she was serious about having a baby soon, which would have been, for many, the only reason she would want a break from the spotlight. Then, rumor emerged that she might be pregnant, a rumor both she and her boyfriend dodged for a rather long while. Until just now, when they both took to Twitter to share their joy at becoming parents for the first time.

“‘Woo hoo I’m gonna be a mummy!’ she wrote on her Twitter page. The 38-year-old is three months pregnant by her boyfriend, Kris Smith, 31, a former rugby league player. He followed Minogue’s message with his own Twitter posting: ‘Woo hoo I’m gonna be a Daddy.’ A spokesman for the X Factor star confirmed: ‘Dannii and Kris are very excited and can’t wait to start their family in 2010.’ The baby is due in July,” the Telegraph writes of the happy news.

“Rumors about the pregnancy began last week when the couple were spotted emerging from a hospital in Melbourne. However, Minogue did not confirm the news as she was yet to have a 12-week scan. ‘Dannii had her 12-week scan this week and was given the results today with the all-clear to make an announcement,’ the spokesman explained,” the same publication goes on to say.

Dannii’s sister, Kylie, was thrilled by the news as well, also taking to Twitter to express her joy at the thought of “a new Minogue.” However, for Dannii’s fans on X Factor, the news means that she’ll not be coming back on the show in August, though an official announcement in this sense is still pending. As the Telegraph puts it, chances are high Simon Cowell is looking for a replacement for her as we speak.
