THQ, global leader in developing and publishing interactive entertainment software, announced the release of a new game for Windows PCs and mobile phones: Dancing with the Stars. Based on the famous TV series airing on ABC (in the US), the new game will allow players to get in the role of the celebrities they like and their dancing skills.

The Dancing with the Stars game comes with celebrities and professional dancers from all the four seasons of the TV show: Monique Coleman, Joey Fatone (well hello, 'N Sync), Mario Lopez, Karina Smirnoff, Johnathan Roberts, Drew Lachey, Lisa Rinna and many others. Mobile gamers will be able to choose their dancer as well as their outfit during five mini games that are, supposedly, exciting. You will have the chance to perform various dance styles, including Jive, Cuban Cha-Cha, Tango and Foxtrot (here's no head-banging apparently, and that's a shame). Moreover, you can track your dancing success during a competition that (virtually) lasts eight weeks.

Although in the press release issued by THQ it's said the game is available as of now, for both the above mentioned platforms, from ValuSoft, a division of THQ, on the game's web page there's only the PC version listed. And it's not available immediately, but only on pre-order, so we can't say when exactly the mobile version will be released.

All in all, the new Dancing With The Stars game is apparently targeted for girls / women, as I can't see too many guys wanting to play it. Or at least not for the dancing reason, because the not-really-dressed chicks who appear during the game might be enough for some to check out the game.

Inspired by the British show "Strictly Come Dancing", Dancing with the Stars has become an international TV series with local versions in no less than 35 countries, including: USA, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, Japan, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Russia, Romania, Israel, Turkey and South Africa.
