The conservationist believes zoos are obsolete, do nothing to safeguard biodiversity

53-year-old Damian Aspinall is convinced zoos do absolutely nothing to help safeguard biodiversity.

His statements on the matter contradict those made by some people who refuse to stop ranting about how such facilities educate the public and raise awareness about the need to protect endangered species.

“If you’re a true conservationist and you truly believe in nature, the ultimate goal is you don’t need zoos. They always throw education back at you though, but that’s total and utter nonsense,” Damian Aspinall argues, as cited by Express.

The conservationist believes all zoos should be abolished over the next couple of decades.

The money used to keep them up and running should instead be spent on breeding programs for endangered animals.

What bothers this greenhead is the fact that, rather than truly helping conservation efforts, most zoos settle for putting animals on display and making money off their backs.

“I absolutely feel sick in my stomach that zoos do animal shows. We’ve played God once when we took animals out of the forest for zoos, so surely we can play God again and try to get some of these animals home,” Damian Aspinall says.
