Hm, it looks the Japanese guys at Sony are really preparing for the summer off-time?they've begun creating funny things and calling the prototypes, just to see what people think. Now, if we just sit and think a bit, such equipment might be a very neat catch in Japan, where all crazy stuff is looked at with [admark=1]eyes full of preoccupation and even reverence.

I won't go that far as to say that the Sony "Flower" is a piece of crap, because we should at least show some respect for the engineering effort; yet the Hana (Japanese for "flower") is simply silly. Having a lamp mixed in with an MP3 player and some loudspeakers is just silly; I mean, what's the use for this contraption: laying in bed and willing to read a bit more so you need the light coming from the lamp...yet you feel like listening to some music but are too lazy to start your home stereo or your computer so, you'd better rely on the music you've pre-loaded on the Hana MP3 player, right? And since you can have music right at your head, why shouldn't you also have the speakers in the same place?

See, everything is at hand, for those moments when you feel like reading in your bed at night, willing to have some music as well but also being lazy enough to avoid getting up from your cozy bed...! C'mon, that's crap, admit it! Instead of thinking about such dumb artifacts of almost chaotically-mixed technology you'd better have your Chindogu Society membership ready and running and start creating silly but funny stuff.

I really doubt that the Hana will ever become a mass-production item...and even if it does, I'd still say it's stupid.
