The parents are in the middle of a custody battle

A custody battle turned ugly when a father was dubbed an unfit parent for denying his son dinner at McDonald's.

Corporate attorney David Schorr of Manhattan had the right to visit his son on Tuesdays until the end of his custody suit.

According to David Schorr’s psychiatrist, he is not fit to raise his child for having denied him dinner.

He is “wholly incapable of taking care of his son,” the doctor's report reads. He will not be allowed weekend visitation, based on said report.

The incident took place on a Tuesday when Schorr planned to take his 4-year-old son to a restaurant.

The child refused and asked to go to McDonald’s. Schorr told him that he would have to pick a different venue, not willing to have him eat junk food.

“The child, stubborn as a mule, chose the ‘no dinner’ option. [...] It was just a standoff. I’m kicking myself mightily,” Schorr describes.

When the boy was returned to the mother, she was willing to take him to the diner. She then called a shrink to assess the situation, New York Post wrote.

“I wish I had taken him to McDonald’s, but you get nervous about rewarding bad behavior. I was concerned. I think it was a 1950s equivalent of sending your child to bed without dinner. That’s maybe the worst thing you can say about it,” Schorr explains.

“Had I done something wrong? I did what any 43-year-old Jewish man would do — I told my mother. I said, ‘My God, did I do something wrong here?’,” he adds.

She responded that he should have given his son what he wanted. Now Schorr is suing psychiatrist Marilyn Schiller for defamation and taking away his parenthood rights.

He claims that he had not been interviewed at the time. Schiller only talked to the child and his mother before filing a report with the court.
