A few days ago, a Dachshund was killed and eaten by a mountain lion in Colorado. The dog's owner explains that the incident occurred while he and his pet Dachshund were merely walking around a gated community in Colorado Springs.

As he puts it, the wild animal pretty much appeared out of nowhere, snatched the dog and then made a quick getaway in some nearby bushes.

“The mountain lion came out from some bushes that are in close proximity to the street that he was walking on, grabbed the Dachshund, and tucked and pulled hard enough to yank the leash out of his hand,” a spokesman for Colorado Parks and Wildlife told members of the press. Sources say that, following the mountain lion's killing and eating the Dachshund, local authorities succeeded in tracking down the wild animal and put it to sleep in order to keep it from attacking any other pets or perhaps even humans in the future.
