In response to Apple's recent claims

As expected, mobile phone maker Motorola did respond to Apple's allegations that its latest Android-based handset, the DROID X, would also be plagued by reception issues, just as Cupertino-based company's latest iPhone model is. According to the latest DROID X ad, users can hold their devices anyway they like while making calls, and they won't need “a bulky phone jacket” to enjoy crystal clear calls.

“At Motorola, we believe a customer shouldn’t have to dress up their phone for it to work properly. That’s why the Droid X comes with a dual antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like to make crystal clear calls without a bulky phone jacket. For us it’s just one of those things that comes as a given when you’ve been making mobile phones for over 30 years. The DROID X by Motorola. Get Ready.” is what the said ad reads.

In case you are not in the loop, you might want to learn that Apple's iPhone reportedly came to the market with a series of antenna issues, which some suggest might be related to a faulty design. The iPhone 4's antenna is placed in a metal belt surrounding the device, which loses reception when the phone is held in certain ways.

According to Apple, the iPhone 4 is not the only device plagued by this issue, as many other smartphones suffer from signal attenuation when a certain grip is applied, and it gave as examples some popular phones on the market, including the Nokia N97 Mini, the HTC DROID Eris, Samsung Omnia II, or the Motorola DROID X.

Samsung already responded to this through offering free Galaxy S devices to iPhone 4 users affected by the antenna issue, and now is Motorola's turn to say something on the matter. Although a clear response to Apple's claims, the new DROID X ad does not surprise us, that's for sure, especially since it is almost in line with other ads in the DROID Does campaign at Verizon.
