Verizon's DROID family is about to get a new member: the Droid Pro, an Android-powered smartphone that was leaked earlier this summer. The device adds to the business side of the series as it comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and business-oriented features.

According to Android Central, quoting an internal document leaked from Verizon Wireless, the carrier will start presales of the Motorola DROID Pro on November 8th.

Furthermore, customers that purchase the device during this period will get it delivered prior to the official launch date, which was set for November 18th.

Pre-sales will be available online via the My Verizon portal and through direct sales channels. Orders will be shipped by Verizon directly to the customers before Motorola DROID Pro is officially launched.

The Motorola DROID Pro pre-sale period ends on November 17, one day before it is officially launched. The carrier will start shipping pre-orders on November 10-11 and will continue until the end of the pre-sale.

DROID Pro is powered by a 1GHz TI OMAP3620-1000 processor and runs on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) platform. It comes with a 3.1-inch HVGA touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 320x480 pixel resolution.

In addition to the full QWERTY keyboard, the device also packs features such as touch-sensitive controls, multi-touch input method, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, proximity sensor for auto- turn-off.

It sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, as well as video recording capabilities. DROID Pro embeds 512 MB RAM, 2 GB ROM and 8 GB internal memory, which can be expanded through the microSD card slot up to 32GB (8GB card included).

Besides the standard Li-Ion 1420 mAh that should last for up to 300 hours in standby mode or up to 7 hours and 50 minutes of talk time, DROID Pro features an extended Li-Ion 1860 mAh, which is said to be of the same size and weight, but should last much longer.

There's no information regarding its price at the moment, but rumors say that it will be around $199 with a contract.
