Digital cameras and portable media players also considered by producers

The IFA 2007 show in Berlin, Germany has been the place where a large number of devices had the chance of showing what they have to offer for real. Texas Instruments has also taken this opportunity for presenting their DLB mobile phone projector.

Squeezing a miniature projector inside a mobile phone is not all that shocking, as many other more unbelievable devices have brought great results when combined with handsets. Because cellulars have become highly used especially when it comes to business functions, a DLB projector sounds like it could have its uses in many situations.

This is only a concept at this time, but one that Texas Instruments considers to have great potential. For the IFA 2007 presentation, the micro projector has been included in a mock-up handset, although it is ready to be included in a real such device.

The concept brings great advantages. Mobile phones have growing data storage capabilities, which makes it possible to store personal and business files on them. A DLP mobile phone projector allows handset users to do presentations without having to carry around heavy equipment.

Of course, the quality is not the same, as the miniature projector will provide fairly smaller images than those coming from a regular such device. It is the same as comparing image capture qualities of digital cameras with those of mobile phones. The greatest advantage that equipping handsets with all these additional features brings is that of offering a great amount of mobility in compact sizes for all these service, rather than perfectly matching the original performances.

The IFA 2007 presentation of this concept has proved the small DLP projector capable of facing the problems presented by bad lighting. Producers also see great potential in other portable devices to also include this technology. Digital cameras and even media players could be just as efficient.
