Between September 21-25, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, was the home of do-it-yourself enthusiasts who create electric cars. People from around the country arrived at the rally, to display their creations at the EVCCON 2011 gathering.

There are numerous electrical vehicle (EV) conversion shops across the United States, whose sole mission is to switch their clients' cars from using pollution gasoline and diesel to relying solely on electricity. Some of these shops can also turn your car into a hybrid.

Many of these EV shops were represented at EVCCON 2011, as were a large number of parts vendors, who provide replacement parts for whatever may break down inside an electrical vehicle. These representatives gladly gathered at one of the few meetings for electric car enthusiasts in the US.

The vehicles themselves were amazing. Some looked like they needed to get some work down, whereas others looked as if they were made by professionals. Take a look in the photo gallery below, and leave your impressions in the comments.
