DFI has been making industrial motherboards for a while now and its latest small form-factor model was launched just this week. Coming in the mini-ITX form factor, the CP100-NRM is based on the Intel QM57 chipset and aims to bring as high a performance level as possible to embedded applications. As such, the board has significant memory capabilities and even technologies that enable wired or remote system management.

The DFI CP100-NRM mini-ITX motherboard supports socket LGA 1156 central processing units and has two DDR3 800/1066 So-DIMMs that allow the memory capacity to reach up to 8GB. The board also boasts a PCI Express x 1 slot, a PCI slot, two Gigabit Ethernet controllers, four Serial COM ports, two channel analog audio supports with an S/PDIF input/output interface and, of course, support for the SATA 3.0Gbps interface.

Specifically, the product has four SATA 3.0Gbps ports for storage. Other specifications include the Intel Atom Z510P 1.1GHz processor, the Integrated Intel HD graphics engine, a VGA display output, a DVI-I display port (DVI-D signal only) and eight USB ports. What's more, the product boasts 24-bit LVDS interfaces, which provide a dual-independent display capability for intensive multimedia applications.

Features that will enhance performance are the Intel Hyper Threading and Intel Turbo Boost technology, which enable chips to handle two instruction threads and boost performance by up to 50% when all cores are not fully exploited. In addition, the mainboard enables the aforementioned remote system management capabilities thanks to the Integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM 1.2), the Intel Active Management Technology (Intel iAMT) 6.0, and the KVM (keyboard-Video-Mouse) redirection technology.

The motherboard will best serve such industrial applications as gaming, digital signage, security, industrial control automation and networking embedded applications. The list of compatible processors includes Intel Core i7-620M (SV), Intel Core i5-520M (SV) and Intel Celeron P4500 (SV) central processing units.
