Sony Online Entertainment has confirmed that it will be releasing the previously announced Green Lantern-themed downloadable content pack for DC Universe Online this week, tomorrow, to be more precise, for free to all active subscribers, at least in North America.

Sony's DC Universe Online is enjoying some decent levels of popularity, with quite a few players enjoying the virtual adventures their own custom heroes (or villains) can embark on alongside famous characters from DC Comics, like Batman or Superman.

After the game's release at the beginning of the year, new content packs and special in-game events were organized by Sony, basing them on characters like Catwoman or Two-Face, as well as holidays like Valentine's Day.

Now, SOE is deploying a new downloadable content pack for DC Universe Online, called Fight for the Light, based on the Green Lantern hero and exploiting some of the events from the recent movie, as well as the comic books.

Originally announced back in July, and scheduled to cost $9.99, the new DLC will be released tomorrow, September 6, for free to "all active subscribers as a way to thank its loyal players," according to the company, which went through some security issues alongside Sony's larger PlayStation Network.

"Introducing DC Comics legend The Green Lantern and the game's seventh power set (Light), the "Fight for the Light" pack allows players to join the Green Lantern Corps or Sinestro Corps as reservist members while helping to restore balance to the universe," explains SOE.

Multiple new raids and battles are included in the DLC, including an "epic battle for control in S.T.A.R. Labs, a light-to-light showdown with the Red Lantern Corps in Coast City, and chaotic prison break at Sciencells Prison."

The DLC will be released tomorrow for free to all active DC Universe Online subscribers "in the U.S." according to the press release from SOE, which doesn't mention anything about European users.
