Networking expert D-Link has just announced the introduction of a new series of PowerLine mini adapters that are used to extend your wireless home network signal by utilizing the electrical wiring of the house.

D-Link's new additions include the PowerLine AV Mini Adapter (DHP-310AV), the PowerLine AV Mini Adapter Starter Kit (DHP-311AV) and the PowerLine AV 4-Port Switch Mini Adapter Starter Kit (DHP-348AV).

The first two of these solutions were designed primarily for extending existing PowerLine networks, but the latter can also be used to connect a remote device that doesn't get any wireless signal.

Consumers who plan to build a more complex network are best served by the PowerLine AV 4-Port Switch Mini Adapter Starter Kit announced by D-Link.

Outside of the mini PowerLine AV adapter, this kit also includes a 4 port switch that enables its users to connect all the devices in a room of their house, such as Internet connected TV, game console or media streamer, to their home network.

All the solutions announced today by D-Link are capable of achieving transfer speeds up to 200Mbps.

"D-Link PowerLine solutions are designed to meet the growing demand for a strong and reliable wireless network at every spot within the home, regardless of the structural or environmental hindrances," said Daniel Kelley, associate vice president of consumer marketing, D-Link North America.

"By tapping into a home's existing electrical wiring, our new PowerLine switch kit and mini adapters offer a high-speed network for not only previously unreachable coverage areas, but for entire home entertainment systems, providing uninterrupted connectivity for playing, working and enjoying all types of media," concluded the company's rep.

The PowerLine AV Mini Adapter, PowerLine AV Mini Adapter Starter Kit and PowerLine AV 4-Port Switch Mini Adapter Starter Kit will retail for $59.99, $109.99 and $129.99, (43, 79 and 93 Euros) respectively.
