The consequence of an agreement between Swiss content security firm Kudelski and the mobile telephony, subsidiary of Germany's Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile will be delivering mobile TV service to Czech mobile phone users.

Kudelski announced yesterday it will provide content protection for the service T-Mobile intends to offer, that will allow customers to receive TV broadcasts on their mobile phones. This program should be launched in the second half of next's year, but analysts think the service would probably not be fully launched until 2007 and it will start having commercial value only at the end of 2007, beginning of 2008.

The Interactive Mobile TV project was initially announced at the INVEX annual fair in Brno, where T-Mobile launched the first phase of this test-run. Visitors were able to watch four broadcast channels for mobile phones - t-music charts, ?T24 - the Czech TV online news channel, and live broadcasts from the ongoing INVEX trade fair.

Mobile television is only the next logical step in the great scheme of mobile convergence of technologies. Users are now very familiar with the concept of using their phone for a great deal of activities, other than just making voice calls, such as sending pictures or video calling.
