A Czech man who was traveling from Dubai to Sydney was caught by Australian authorities trying to smuggle exotic bird eggs into the country, by hiding them in his pants.

According to Metro, the 39-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was arrested in the Sydney airport on Tuesday after Custom officials selected him for a baggage examination and discovered he was carrying 16 wild bird eggs in the crotch of his trousers. The small eggs were reportedly hidden in a strip of fabric, as shown in the photo above.

Australia’s Customs and Border Protection Service revealed in a statement that the man was taken into custody and charged with attempting to import regulated live species without a permit under environmental protection laws. He reportedly appeared in court on Wednesday.

“Officers conducted a frisk search of the man and allegedly found 16 small eggs concealed in his groin area,” the statement read.

It is not yet known what species of wild birds the eggs belonged to, but they have been sent to veterinarians at the Department of Agriculture for identification.

If found guilty of the charges brought against him, the Czech passenger could face up to 10 years in prison and a $157,000 (€114,800) fine.
