The World Wildlife Fund (WWF, for short) has recently announced that cycling team Garmin-Sharp is ready and willing to team up with the organization, and help raise awareness of environmental causes.

On its website, the WWF details that the basis of this partnership were set during last year's Tour de France. Once in place, the partnership will aim to bring sports and conservation together, the organization explains.

“The partnership came about through a twitter conversation during 2013’s Tour de France, when the team’s panda mascot joined forces with WWF’s panda protection mission,” the WWF writes.

Furthermore, “Many conversations later the partnership is ready to go, with both teams appreciating the need for conservation of our natural world – and both in it to succeed.”

According to the organization, the partnership will be in place during this year's cycle season. However, no information concerning what exactly this collaboration will boil down to has yet been shared with the public.

The WWF says that those who wish to learn more about the collaboration, the events and the activities that are to be organized should follow either the organization or the cycling team on Facebook and Twitter.

Commenting on this partnership, Jonathan Vaughters, CEO, Slipstream Sports and Team Garmin-Sharp said that, “ We’re thrilled to contribute to WWF’s efforts to ensure that cyclists, cycling fans and everyone else has a healthy, thriving planet to enjoy for generations to come.”
