McAfee is warning users from India to beware of shady Android applications that display bogus job offers in an effort to help cybercriminals earn some money.

Once it infects a device, the malicious app, identified as Android/JobFraud, displays a message which reads “Important incoming email from HR, do the needful.”

When users press the OK button, they’re taken to a phony job offer from TATA. Victims are informed that they’ve been selected as job candidates, but they must deposit some money into a bank account.

“Regarding your interview management by company, you have to deposit an initial refundable security amount in favor of Company for the sum or Rs. 8,150. This is refundable interview security against your interview management,” the ad reads.

“Company will pay all the expenditure to you at the time of face-to-face meeting,” it continues.

Android users are advised to avoid such job offers at all costs. Also, since such malicious apps are usually hosted on third-part markets, experts recommend avoiding untrusted websites.
