14 DAY TRIAL // Experts have identified a phishing scam that’s leveraging the name and reputation of Wut Hmone Shwe Yee, a famous Myanmar actress and model, to lure users to a malicious website that’s designed to steal their credentials.
According to Symantec, the phishing website replicates a popular social network. The site urges internauts to log in to their accounts in order to gain access to more information about Wut Hmone Shwe Yee.
Of course, those who log in to the site – hosted using a free service – are actually handing over their usernames and passwords to cybercriminals.
In order to avoid raising any suspicion, after they enter their credentials on the fake website, victims are redirected to a legitimate site of Myanmar models.
As always, users are advised to avoid such websites. If you’re a victim of this scam, be sure to change your passwords as soon as possible.
