Micromax already released Android 5.0.2 Lollipop for the Yureka smartphone back in April, but the Indian company plans to launch another major OS update.

CyanogenOS 12.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop has recently been confirmed to arrive on both Yureka and Yuphoria smartphones.

Today, the Indian company confirms that the updates are in the final phase of testing, which means that if nothing goes wrong, they might be available sometime this week.

Micromax has been working to include some bug fixes and features requested or reported by users, so here are some of the changes that will be part of the CyanogenOS 12.1 update when it gets released.

“A very limited set of devices had issues with proximity sensor. We have addressed this now and will be providing patches which include the auto calibration of proximity sensor,” explains Yu CEO Rahul Sharma in a forum post.

“We also have an updated firmware for the keyboard to improve typing and gestures. Additionally, the entire camera stack has been rebuilt with reworked camera tunings. This will greatly improve the camera to capture more details under various lighting conditions,” he adds.

Beside the changes mentioned earlier, Sharma states that a few more auxiliary enhancements like audio, dialer, thermal performance have been added as well.

CyanogenMOD 12.1 nightlies are available now

Furthermore, Yu's CEO has announced that CyanogenMOD 12.1 (based on Android 5.1 Lollipop) nightlies are now available for the Yu community.

For those who don't know, the CyanogenMOD is the base on which CyanogenOS is developed. However, CyanogenMOD is actively supported by a large spectrum of contributors from around the world.

Since there's no exact release date for CyanogenOS 12.1 for Yureka and Yuphoria, we will keep an eye out for any additional details on the matter, so stay tuned for more on this one.
