OnePlus One, the first smartphone in the world to have been designed specifically for the CyanogenMod custom platform, will become official in the not too distant future, and more details on its capabilities have made it to the web as the launch date nears.

In a recent post on the company’s forums, OnePlus founder Pete Lau has decided to share some info on the phone’s screen, claiming that it will be a 5.5-inch panel, capable of delivering a 1080p resolution.

The JDI display will have a 400+ PPI pixels density, while also featuring TOL (Touch On Lens) modules meant to eliminate the distance between the touch sensor and display panel. What’s more, the screen is 300% more shatterproof than other technologies, OnePlus claims.

“The screen is equipped with both CABC and DRAM technology,” Pete Lau notes in the aforementioned forum post.

“This new and innovative technologies sense when the contents on your screen are dynamic, and consume less energy when the image is static, allowing the vivid 5.5” display to consume even less power than normal 5.0” displays with the same brightness.”

The best part of the deal, however, is not related to the technology of the screen, but to its size when compared to how large the OnePlus One smartphone actually is. The result is quite impressive, one should agree.

To be more precise, the company has managed to squeeze the aforementioned 5.5-inch screen in a chassis designed for a 5-inch smartphone, at least this is what Pete Lau notes, as comment to the photo attached to this article.

“After a lot of trial and error, our engineers figured it out. Need proof? Believe it or not, there’s a OnePlus One under that Sony Xperia Z1, a 5” screen phone that many people have said great things about,” he says.

When made available for purchase, the upcoming OnePlus One will feature one of the best screen/front space ratios on the market, the OnePlus co-founder also notes.

Basically, the device will meet both the need for a larger screen to enjoy better videos, photos, and other type of content, and a minimal size, so that it can be easily held in hand and operated.

The CyanogenMod smartphone will also land on the market with a Snapdragon 800 processor packed inside, a quad-core CPU that will ensure great performance capabilities, that’s for sure. At the same time, it will feature a 3100mAh battery, so as to offer long usage times.
